Why support this project?

The Brazilian Amazon APD Grouped Project is a high‑integrity REDD+ (Avoided Planned Deforestation) initiative that protects native rainforest across 15 private properties in Brazil’s Legal Amazon. By focusing on planned (legally permitted) clearing, the project delivers a clear climate outcome: landowners waive their right to legally deforest a portion of their land and commit to maintaining forest cover for the long term.

We support this project because it couples strong permanence provisions—including 40‑year legally binding agreements (renewable up to 100 years)—with rigorous third‑party certification and monitoring.  The project is validated under Verra’s Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) and certified under the Climate, Community & Biodiversity (CCB) Standards, achieving CCB Gold Level for biodiversity

Who we work with?

We work with the project proponent BRCARBON SERVICOS AMBIENTAIS LTDA (brCarbon), a Brazilian environmental services company with a portfolio of forest carbon and conservation projects.  The project is implemented across 15 participating private properties, where landowners enter conservation agreements that underpin the project’s avoided deforestation outcomes.

Community and Biodiversity Impact

Community Impact:

The project invests carbon revenue into locally led initiatives that strengthen wellbeing and resilience for communities living in and around the project area. These initiatives include support for education and connectivity (such as school upgrades and expanded internet access), improved access to clean water and renewable energy solutions (including solar kits and water pumps), and health partnerships and campaigns delivered with local health services. Verified outcomes reported for the project’s activities include 370 people supported with access to clean water and 219 people with improved education access, with benefits reaching women and children. The project also supports sustainable livelihoods—including flour and honey production—and skills-building through training workshops that have empowered 79 people (38 of whom were women), alongside the creation of 10 local jobs over the project’s lifetime.

Environmental and Biodiversity Impact:

By conserving 30,750.5 hectares of Amazon forest, the project not only protects ecologically significant habitat and safeguards biodiversity at scale but also monitors around 896 animal species (of which 346 are endemic and 29 are threatened with extinction. This contributed to the project’s CCB Gold Level biodiversity status. Beyond species protection, maintaining intact forest supports wider ecosystem services such as improved soil carbon retention, reduced fire risk, and enhanced watershed protection, helping strengthen long-term ecological resilience across the landscape.

SDGs: The project is aiming to contributes to the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals:

Where does my money go?

Your purchase goes to the procurement of fully verified and independently audited carbon offset projects. TEM’s operational, due-diligence, risk management and marketing costs are also included in the list price. By purchasing from these projects, you are mobilising capital to support the project’s ongoing operations and benefits, alongside of ensuring measurable emissions reductions and avoidance.

What goes into pricing TEM's offsets on this site?

You may find a difference between the cost of projects listed on this site and the average prices listed on the wholesale carbon market/s. That’s because TEM offers projects where we have gone the extra mile to ensure their integrity and deliver you the end-to-end service that others won’t. Our pricing is fully inclusive of the end-to-end services to ensure integrity, including:

  • The cost to source, deliver and/or procure projects – Sourcing, purchasing and holding carbon units.
  • TEM’s proprietary due diligence and risk management for each project – Put simply, we do the work to limit the chance that you will support a project that doesn’t deliver measurable and long-term carbon abatement.
  • Our retirement process – Following each purchase, every carbon offset purchased on this site can be transparently traced to a retired carbon unit listed on an independent registry.
What will I receive with my purchase?

Once we’ve received your payment, we will:

    • Send you content and copy (if available) relating to the projects you’re supporting.
    • Evidence of retirement, which includes the listing on each registry that relates to the offsets you have purchased within a TEM-branded retirement certificate. You will receive an email once your order is placed to confirm retirement copy for your certificate – this details the reason for retirement and is best practice to avoid double counting. The cost for a company-specific retirement certificate = $150 per order. Note: you will need individual retirement for Climate Active and other certification purposes.
    • Keep you updated on new projects as they’re added to TEM Online. Of course-you can choose to opt out of those emails!
